NCAM's FAA approved PC ATD  is an advanced customized version of the Elite’s  G500 iGATE series and covers standard versions of Cessna, Piper, Beech singles and twins such as the Baron as well as Mooneys. Its large LCD screen forms the main instrument panel and can depict each selected airplane cockpit detail accurately for high quality training for aircraft instrument flying as well as for systems and avionics familiarity and procedures.

There is an instructor station (right side computer monitor) that shows the students track on a map as well as instrument readings. The instructor can cause a host of malfunctions including engine failure; these can be done suddenly or based on a pre-set time. In addition weather such as wind and turbulence can be set.

 

We have used this unit for evaluating advanced displays and so it has not seen much time on its hobbs meter. It uses a windows XP computer that has been maintained and updated by a local computer shop.
